Record and Mix

In more than 15 years of experience, I have mixed and/or recorded more than 200 tracks. I focus mainly on Colombian Andean folklore, instrumental groups, and recordings in concert halls. Below you will find a brief selection of my work.

Armonizando, Cuarteto León Cardona (2024). I participated in the recording, mixing, and production of this amazing album. We worked so hard on details like the natural reverb and the stereo image. We recorded the album in the concert hall of the Library Luis Angel Arango, one of the most iconic concert halls in Bogotá-Colombia.

Caléndula, Urpi Barco & Lucho Hermida (2023). I wrote this song during a complex family health process. At that moment, I researched medicinal plants, where calendula caught my attention for its flower’s beauty and anti-inflammatory and regenerative power. I used the Botanical Garden of Bogota (Colombia) documents to create song lyrics. My idea was to create a kind of apothecary song. Regarding the rhythm, the song is a mix between the old bamboo of the Pacific region and the Andean bamboo, traditional Colombian’s rhythms. The song also seeks to highlight traditional knowledge, sharing the use of ancestral plants to treat physical, mental, or spiritual illness. Caléndula comes to life in the voice of Urpi Barco, who makes listeners vibrate with a serene and healing voice.

Un canto por la vida, Marta Gómez, Adriana Lucía, María Mulata, Victoria Sur, César López, Lucio Feuillet (2021). I participated in this collaborative project in the editing and mixing process.

Cantando al cielo, Daniel Saboya y Javier Contreras (2021). Composition by Gentil Montaña arranged by Daniel Saboya. I did the mix in this project.

Película Alemana Pirata, Andrés Correa (2020). I had the pleasure of participating in this project in editing and mixing processes, I played the viola caipira also.

Un día más, OÍ (2020). After almost 10 years we got together again with Juan Consuegra and Fáber Grajales and recorded this song that we composed and produced collectively.

Urpi Barco & Lucho Hermida: Canciones con la orquesta universal (2019). This album plays with soundscapes and flirts with immersive sound and binaural audio. In addition to composing and performing, I did the recording, editing, and mixing processes for the entire album. Here is my «Baiao sem roteiro», an experiment that mixes Urpi Barco’s vocal talent with Brasilia’s ambient bus sounds.

Variopinto, Paulo Triviño (2017). I had the pleasure of mixing this beautiful album by my great friend Paulo Triviño. I also played my 7-string guitar in this choro that was dedicated to me!

Palabra Real, Japaku (2016). This is a very interesting Andean music album. I participated as the mixing engineer.

De achiras y click, Mario Lemmus (2015). Another mixed album for another great friend. An author’s song with sounds from Huila (Colombia).

Zumbatómico, Ensamble Tríptico (2012). For me, Ensemble Triptico is one of the most important groups in the Colombian Andean music scene in the last 15 years. When mixing jobs come from this band I enjoy them enormously.

El diablo, Dueto Primavera (2012). I participated in the mix of some tracks of the album «Amarraditos». In this track, this wonderful duet had the collaboration of Nvoz vocal band. Great people and great musicians.

Encuentro, Folkloreta (2012). This was the second album that I made for these great friends: Silvia and Ricardo. Here is my favorite song from this album.

Noctambular, OÍ (2010). Song included in the OÍ2 album with Carlos «Cubanito» Taboada in the production, choirs by Adriana Vázquez, and mastering by Andrés Mayo. I participated in the editing and mixing processes.
